In that time, Lightricks had scaled to 10+ apps without a brand strategy, resulting in an ecosystem that lacked cohesiveness and focus. Big Spaceship was brought in to build a master brand — initially framed around a future IPO narrative, but ultimately delivering something far more transformative.

Big Spaceship's approach was focused on understanding the culture and behavior surrounding Lightricks from the inside-out; reviewing 100+ internal documents, interviewing 45+ stakeholders, evaluating 10+ beacon brands, and triangulating desk research with social listening and audience interviews.

The finding: Lightricks' competitors showed up at the inspiration and launch stages of the creative process, but no one was owning the most rewarding part. That illumination stage, when the answer to the creative quest strikes and a creator figures out how to execute their idea, became the north star.

A design system built for the spark

Big Spaceship evolved Lightricks' creative expression from a disorganized, colorful look and feel to a cohesive design system that evokes the core components of the 'Aha!' moment. Brand elements illuminate the path with colors that evoke blue-sky thinking and capture the spark of an idea. Three visual building blocks – Organisms (bringing invisible technology to life), Portals (looking into the creator's mind), and Touch Gestures (visualizing creation in action) – gave the brand a flexible, ownable system that scaled across product, marketing, and C-suite storytelling. The work culminated in a new website, updated LinkedIn presence, and investor-ready narrative for the next stage of growth.
