When it’s time to buy a new printer, do you find yourself saying “Heck yes”? We didn’t think so. For most, printer shopping is perplexing. Our challenge with Discover Your Epsonality was to make the process understandable and entertaining. First off, what is Epsonality? It is your aura, your inner printer. This isn’t just about buying a printer. It’s about how your printer can enhance your life.
Epson and Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners approached us to devise an interactive campaign to explore Epson’s large range of printers (15 in all). Building off of BSSP’s traditional campaign, we expanded Epsonality into an engaging digital experience, one that is fun but entirely practical. For weeks we pored over the printers, differentiated them based on tech specs, key features, price and, of course, Epsonality. We created unique “personas” for each, so you could easily relate to them. Then we developed an algorithm that tied functionality to the personas, helping you define your printing needs. Rather than presenting sleep-inducing lists of specs, we translated esoteric information into clear, comprehensible animations, and we let you choose your own path to explore.
There is no single point of entry at the Epsonality Laboratory. The sliders and the printer chooser allow you to discover, change your mind and fine-tune your choices. Roam around, home in on features, print out information (since you can’t bring your computer to the store) and review side-by-side comparisons. The scalable build also allows for the introduction of new products. Epson.com – where you can make your purchase – is a click away. The journey doesn’t end there though. Once you’ve revealed your true Epsonality, you can share it with friends or “feed” it with inspiring material that fits your interests – be they photo-centric, art-oriented or entrepreneurial.
