Arctic Branding for Adobe

The Adobe MAX Conference. It's one of the many reasons we're big fans of Adobe. Having worked closely with them before (testing products pre-launch), we were eager to help revamp the MAX online experience. The site featured landscapes in the past, but this year they wanted a far richer atmosphere, one that would extend into an integrated branding campaign while showcasing the design side of the event – by employing Adobe Creative Suite, of course.

Adobe desired a seamless landscape composed of three different climates, each designed by a select digital agency. We chose the frozen arctic because of the beautiful colors it offered (not to mention the abominable snowmen). The inspiration, however, did not come from the glacial waters. The colors that burst forth from the icebergs are a fanciful interpretation of the northern lights. Click enough of them, and the monstrous Yeti will appear.

The arctic land flows into a desert (to the right) and a jungle (to the left). The climates also appeared as multi-media displays in San Francisco, Milan and Tokyo – the three cities hosting the conference.

The Making of the MAX 2008 Website

Here are the Big Spaceship slides from Zanders and Daniels Session at MAX :: The Making of the MAX 2008 Website (20mb).

We used the new Acrobat 9 to create the presentation. An amazing new feature is that you can directly import SWF Files into a page, so all dev examples are fully interactive. Make sure that you have the latest Acrobat reader to view it.

The PDF shows a lot of the design and development process and is pretty much self explanatory. I left a comment on the slides that have additional interactive features.

Have fun.
